The Wilber Clatonia Booster Club will again host the Alumni Basketball Tournament this year the last weekend of March beginning Saturday March 29th. Thanks to Randy Pryor and all the booster members and community people he recruits to help. The funds gained from this event, like all the fund raisers the boosters do, will go toward supporting the athletic programs of the school. The organization’s mission includes: increasing the interest in the athletic programs of the school; assisting and supporting the school athletic programs; and encouraging the school and communities to become active supporters of W-C athletics. Current officers of the organization are Jerry Petracek-President, Rich Pflanz-Vice President, Michelle Pryor- Secretary, and Greg Hasenohr- Treasurer.
Significant accomplishment of the organization over the past few years include:
1. Donated $3000 towards the purchase of a new sound system for the football/ track field.
2. Donated $2150 to the school for starting blocks and a cart for track.
3. Donated $850 for a computer palm pilot and software for keeping boys and girl’s basketball statistics.
4. Donated $250 for the “W-C Wrestling Wall of Fame.”
5. Donated $1060 for the purchase of a new track timing system.
6. Donated $2000 towards the purchase of a wrestling mat.
7. Donated $500 to W-C Youth Midget Football equipment replacement.
8. Donates annually $200 to W-C Cheerleaders to help with spirit supplies.
9. Sponsored tailgates during home football games.
10. Promoted school spirit with the sales of new Wolverine apparel.
11. Sponsored hotdog cookouts for athletics in the fall and spring seasons.
12. Coordinated pictures and sales for W-C spirit buttons.
13. Booster members volunteered their time to help at athletic events (admission, clock, book, track timers & helpers).
14. Purchase flowers for all sports “Parent’s Nights.”
15. Promoted youth football, basketball, and volleyball programs by purchases of needed equipment.
16. Paid annual Nebraska Coaches Association dues for all W-C coaches.
17. Sponsorship of food and sports drinks for W-C athletes qualifying for state events.
18. Annually donated to the W-C Post prom and “Elementary Family Fun Night.”
19. Donated $250 to the Nebraska Sports Hall of Fame.
