School Info: Administration

From the Super

By Dave Rokusek

April 01, 2008

From the Super 3-2-08 Dave Rokusek April has arrived and with it the showers that bring May flowers. Let’s hope the showers come true for April. April will also bring an end to the Nebraska Legislative session. With it comes the final decision concerning state aide. A number of changes in the formula will affect schools across the state this year. Some schools are losers in the process some are winners. Currently it looks as if we will hold our own in preliminary state aide formula totals. Schools that are classified as sparse seem to be taking the biggest hit. Once the final decision is made about state aid we can go forward with refining the resource side of the budget. We are already in the expenditure side mode of the budget for next school year. Teachers are completing their requisitions and orders for next year. Staffing decisions have been made. Kindergarten Round Up has also been conducted. We anticipate about 44 students for next year which is good to hear in keeping our enrollment steady in the elementary. We have 52 seniors so next year we will lose a few total students. We have had a number of parents from other districts inquiring about option enrolling their children so we expect to gain a few students through option enrollment thus a slight drop is expected for next year. Thanks for all the Wall of Fame nominations! We received a number of new nominations. The committee will be meeting in April to decide the recipient. The recipient is announced at the Alumni Reunion the first weekend in June. Come and support the Elementary Family Fun night this Friday beginning at 6:30 in the elementary gym. The event is sponsored by the PTO and helps to support a variety of programs at the elementary school. Lots of games and good family fun! We are still looking for a few workers and help. Shifts are available so you do not have to work all night. Contact Gina Schmit, PTO president or call the school for details. How do you know you are living in 2008? 1. You accidentally enter your password on your microwave.2.You haven’t played solitaire with real cards in years. 3. You e-mail the person who works at the desk or room next to you! Take care and stay in touch!
