The Wilber-Clatonia football team is ready for another year of football. With eight returning seniors, the Wolverines are looking for some senior leadership and experience on both offense and defense. Sam Newmyer, the junior quarterback for the team, will be getting a push this year from his offensive line which consists of three seniors, Caleb Lempka, Brock Rezny, and Jon Baldwin, and two juniors, Pat Bruns and Lucas Havel. In the backfield we have two veteran backs, Jason Mammen, running back, and Taylor Shore, fullback. The wide-outs this year will be a combination of seniors and juniors, Ben Zeiger, Clint Watson, Zack Vogt, and Andrew Pryor will be catching most of the passes this year. Andrew Jeffries will be at the tight end position, catching passes and making holes.
On the other side of the ball, our defense is powered by our d-line. Our three starting line men are quick, but younger with two juniors, Lucas Havel and Justin Rezabek at the d-tackle position, and one sophomore nose guard, Lonnie Coffey. We will be looking for them to stop the offensive push and make some plays. On the end of the line are two senior d-ends, Brock Rezny and Taylor Shore. The Wolverines will look for them to keep everything contained and provide a pass rush. Our linebackers are a powerhouse of seniors, Jon Baldwin, Jason Mammen and Ben Zeiger. They will be our second line of defense in stopping the run and pass game. Our defensive corners are Zack Vogt and Andrew Pryor. They will be the men stopping the throwing game and they will be looking for help from senior Clint Watson and others. Our free safety is a young, but talented freshman, Tanner Zlab. He will be a threat on both the run and passing game.
We are looking forward to having a fun, but learning season, because we have a very young team, but on the other hand we also have a bunch of returning players that will be a threat to the opposition.
