Paying Up to Dress Down

Wilber-Clatonia Educators Fund Scholarship for Graduates

The educators at Wilber-Clatonia are using the revised dress code as an opportunity to fund the annual scholarship sponsored by the Wilber-Clatonia Education Association. This year, the teaching staff may wear dress jeans on the first and third Fridays of the month.

At its regular meeting in August, the WCEA passed a motion that each member will donate $1 per  ‘jeans day’ toward the WCEA scholarship. This scholarship is funded through interest earned by funds donated by the association to the Wilber-Clatonia Public School’s Foundation.  If all 38 professional members donate at the designated rate, $508 will be added to the fund.

However, association treasurer, Janet Burger, reported at the September meeting that $526 had been already been donated by 32 members.  Some have paid for all 16 designated “jeans” Fridays, others for only the first semester, and others have rounded up, or even doubled, the amount.  All school personnel are invited to join in this scholarship fund activity.
