I would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Each year at this time we have the opportunity to gather with family and friends and spend some quality time together. We all have so many things to be thankful for in our lives. Besides our family and children, remember our military troops away from home; the great country we live in; and the many gifts and talents each of us are given. By the time you read this, school will have been dismissed for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the holiday and safe travel for those that are on the road. Students and staff report back to school on Monday, November 30th. That will leave about three weeks to the end of the 1st semester. The first week of December brings us to the start of the varsity winter sports season. So check the school calendar and support the Wolverines.
I seem to always use the below Thanksgiving Forecast article prior to Thanksgiving break. I just can’t seem to pass it up because it is so creative. I hope this is the worst forecast we have all winter and again have a great Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving Forecast: Turkeys will thaw in the morning, then warm in the oven to a late morning high near 190 degrees Fahrenheit. The kitchen will turn hot and humid, if you bother the cook, be ready for a severe squall or cold shoulder.
During the early afternoon and evening for some, the cold front of a knife will slice through the turkey causing an accumulation of one to two inches on the plate. Mashed potatoes will drift across one side while cranberry sauce creates slippery spots on the outer edge of the plates. An indigestion warning will be issued for the entire area, with increased stuffiness around the belt. During the evening, the turkey will diminish and taper off to leftovers dropping to a low of 34 degrees in the refrigerator.
Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, high pressure will enter to eat turkey in a variety of ways. Flurries of leftovers can be expected both days with a 50% percent chance of soups and gravies late in the day. This will continue throughout the week, with eating pressure declining later in the week. From “Laugh Lines for Educators”, by Diane Hodges.
So why did they let the turkey join the Polka band? Because he had the drumsticks! Take care and stay in touch!
