During the month of January as part of the superintendent search process , community focus groups of students, staff, and patrons were used to help candidates get a feel about the communities in the school district.  Below is a listing of things that were stated when responding to the question of, “tell us the good things about your communities.” I thought you would enjoy.
“Supportive and close-knit; we help each other; friendly; county seat; lots of activities for kids and families; great location – only 35 minutes from Lincoln; great pool and recreation opportunities; Czech Festival; new facilities around town (Health clinic, pool, school etc.); awesome public library; nursing home/services for elderly; culturally rich; accepting of others; proud communities that are well taken care of; safe; affordable housing – good cost of living; family-oriented & values based; Job opportunities in/around area; self-sufficient community (churches, medical facilities, pharmacy, stores and shop);active service clubs; lots of scholarship providers for our students (Foundation and Local donors); volunteer Fire/Rescue services; local businesses support schools; stand alone, active police department; safe; clean and well kept; music playing on main street-we’re like a Norman Rockwell painting; young people move back here to raise their families; Chamber of Commerce is progressive; effective City crews”
