On Friday afternoon, May 14, the 7th grade Social Studies classes went on a field trip to the Homestead National Monument of America near Beatrice.
The students watched a movie on the history of the monument, toured the museum, went on an educational trail walk, and visited the Freeman schoolhouse.
The classes have been studying the importance of the Homestead Act of 1862 to Nebraska and the nation.
The classes wrote reflective papers about their trip and the experience of being at one of the nation’s first homesteads.
